I've used a sauce ladel as a clapper and several spoon handles as rods.  Be sure to listen to the sound.  This is a beautiful one!  Yes she has a dent, but her ribbed sides are lovely.
 
Occasionally spray beads with window cleaner, then with water and drip dry. Hang in a VERY sheltered area such as inside or a closed porch.  This size is also great in windows hanging from a hook or from a curtain rod.
